Workers’ Compensation

Vocational Rehabilitation

  • Benefits

In the state of Michigan, if you are injured within the scope of your employment, you are entitled to workers’ compensation benefits, which can include wage loss, medical treatment, and vocational rehabilitation services.

If an individual who has sustained an injury on-the-job is not able to return to work, a Vocational Specialist can assist with implementing workplace accommodations/modifications or pursuing an alternative job or career field. Workers’ compensation benefits cover Vocational Rehabilitation for up to 2 years.

  • Eligibility

Per Section 319 of the Michigan Workers’ Disability Compensation Act, injured workers are entitled to Vocational Rehabilitation benefits if that person is no longer able to perform the work in which they have prior training or experience. That being said, these services are paid for by the employer/insurance carrier.

In order to be eligible for our Workers’ Compensation Vocational Therapy program, the individual must have an open worker’s compensation claim due to injury preventing this person from returning to work.

  • How We Can Help

If you are not able to return to work after sustaining an injury in the workplace and have an open workers’ comp claim, one of our Vocational Specialists can assist you with obtaining gainful employment. Our skilled therapists are available to provide an initial consultation to discuss your work reintegration goals. If you are able to return to the job you held pre-injury, our Vocational Specialist can help you identify and implement on-the-job accommodations and modifications to ensure your needs are met when returning to work. If you cannot return to the job you held pre-injury, our Vocational Specialists can assist with career exploration to determine a job within your skills and abilities, retraining efforts (such as education or training for an alternative career), resume development, interview support, and job development to include applying for jobs and following up with potential employers.
